Rules for players
August 27, 2026
1 Introduction and agreements
1.1 Introduction
Welcome to FTOYD! These Rules are designed to ensure that participation in FTOYD Fortnite tournaments is fair, safe, and enjoyable for all players. They help maintain a friendly environment, prevent toxic behavior (see section 4), and support fair competitive play.
By following these Rules, you contribute to a positive competitive atmosphere and make tournaments more enjoyable both for yourself and for other players.
1.2 Agreement with Current Rules
By participating in FTOYD Fortnite tournaments, including registering, confirming participation, or joining any match, you automatically agree to the current version of these Rules.
1.3 Rule Updates
FTOYD tournament Rules may be updated at any time. The updated version becomes effective once it is published on the FTOYD platform or in official communication channels.
By continuing to participate in tournaments after such updates, you confirm your agreement with the revised Rules. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop participating in current and future tournaments.
1.4 Disclaimer
By participating in events on FTOYD, to the extent permitted by applicable law, players agree to release and hold harmless FTOYD LTD or Epic Games, Inc., their licensors, affiliates, and their and their respective employees, officers, directors, agents, contractors, and other representatives from any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, liabilities, and expenses related to the event.
FTOYD tournament events are in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Epic Games, Inc. Any information provided by players in connection with this event is provided to the event organizer named in the event title, not to Epic Games, Inc.
1.5 General Authority of the FTOYD Administration
The FTOYD platform administration, organizers, and support agents have the authority to make decisions regarding violations that are not explicitly listed in the Rules but align with their overall spirit and purpose.
Key principles:
- if a player's or organizer's actions undermine competitive integrity, damage trust in tournaments, or pose a threat to other participants, the administration or organizers may apply sanctions or restrict tournament or in-game accounts;
- decisions may be made even when a specific violation is not directly described in the Rules but clearly fits the definition of unsportsmanlike, fraudulent, or otherwise prohibited behavior;
- the FTOYD administration may take into account recommendations from Epic Games or other partner services when making decisions.
Possible sanctions:
- warning, disqualification, or account suspension;
- revocation of prizes and achievements.
1.6 Platform Service Fee
When awarding prizes, FTOYD retains a 10% service fee from the total prize pool. This service fee is deducted automatically when funds are distributed among players after the tournament concludes.
2 Tournament format
2.1 Event Conditions
FTOYD organizers may adjust the tournament schedule, format, or participant list for organizational, technical, or other objective reasons.
These adjustments may include:
- rescheduling matches or tournament stages;
- pausing, resuming, or canceling the tournament in case of technical issues, Fortnite-related problems, suspected mass violations, or other circumstances beyond the organizers' control.
Participants will be notified of any changes through official organizer channels (the platform, Telegram, Discord, etc.) either in advance or, in urgent cases, as quickly as possible.
Organizers are not responsible for any inconvenience or losses caused by such changes.
By continuing to participate after receiving a notification, you confirm your agreement with the updated conditions.
2.2 Registration and Check-In
Registration is a mandatory step for tournament participation. To successfully register and join a match, players must follow these rules:
- many tournaments require mandatory conditions such as subscriptions, ranks, paid statuses, or organizer-specific requirements. Registration is not possible without meeting them;
- the player or team is fully responsible for complying with all mandatory tournament requirements;
- if, after registering, a participant no longer meets any required condition, their registration (or the team's registration) will be automatically revoked;
- check-in opens 10 minutes before the tournament start. The player must confirm participation and join through the “Join” button;
- the organizer may verify compliance with participation requirements and reject a registration if violations or inconsistencies are found.
2.3 Scoring Systems
Each tournament has its own scoring system and reward distribution rules, which are published in its official regulations.
- tournaments may use different scoring models — for placements, eliminations, and other achievements, depending on the format and game mode;
- the full list of rules, including point values, winner criteria, and prize distribution, is provided in the tournament's official regulation;
- each participant must review the tournament rules before the event starts and confirms this when joining the tournament.
2.4 Penalty Systems
Penalty systems are used to maintain fair play and equal conditions for all participants. Penalties are applied according to the rules of the specific tournament and the recommendations of the FTOYD administration.
Key principles:
- penalties are issued for violations listed in the rules, as well as for any actions that undermine competitive integrity;
- the severity of the penalty depends on the nature and seriousness of the violation;
- repeated or severe violations may result in escalated sanctions.
Possible penalties:
- warning — a verbal or written notice without further consequences;
- disqualification — removal of a player or team from the tournament without the possibility of reinstatement;
- access restriction — temporary or permanent limitation of specific platform features (e.g., chat or tournament participation);
- account suspension — temporary or permanent suspension of an FTOYD profile;
- prize forfeiture — revocation of rewards or payouts if the violation affects results.
The organizer or FTOYD administration reserves the right to determine sanctions on a case-by-case basis, considering all relevant circumstances.
2.5 Dispute Resolution
Disputes related to gameplay, placement decisions, sub-match outcomes, interpretation of player actions, or verification of fair play within a specific match, are the sole responsibility of the tournament organizer. FTOYD does not review such disputes and does not intervene in gameplay-related decisions.
The organizer must resolve disputes based on the tournament's regulations and principles of fair competition. Players must follow the established procedures and provide valid evidence when required.
FTOYD intervenes only when a dispute involves:
- violations of FTOYD platform rules;
- abuse of authority by the organizer;
- threats to competitive integrity or player safety.
Key principles:
- gameplay disputes are resolved exclusively by the organizer;
- FTOYD reviews only violations of platform rules, not gameplay incidents;
- players must provide complete and truthful evidence when required;
- the organizer may request additional data if needed to issue a decision.
Dispute resolution process:
1. The player submits an inquiry to the organizer through the tournament chat or ticket system.
2. The organizer reviews the information and makes a decision according to the tournament regulations.
3. If the player believes the organizer violated FTOYD rules, they may file a complaint with FTOYD support.
4. FTOYD reviews such complaints only regarding the organizer’s actions, not gameplay moments.
Special cases:
- if a situation is not described in the tournament rules, the organizer decides based on fairness and safety;
- in cases involving cheating, threats to players, or attempts to manipulate the system, decisions may be final and non-appealable;
- FTOYD may temporarily pause a tournament if the organizer’s actions pose risks to participants or the platform.
2.7 Additional starts and restarts
An Additional Start is the creation of an extra game lobby, triggered when a significant number of players fail to join the main lobby.
A Restart is the re-creation of the main lobby if players cannot enter it or if a technical error prevents a proper game start.
Grounds for Additional Start or Restart:
- lobby launch failure on Fortnite’s side;
- widespread technical issues (e.g., mass player disconnections);
- justified mass request from players for an additional start or restart (subject to administration review);
- decision by the event organizer (at their discretion);
- standard practice in major tournaments (e.g., additional starts after each main lobby).
Procedure for Additional Start or Restart:
- after the main lobby is launched, the administration reviews the situation based on player reports and technical data;
- if an additional start or restart is approved, the administration creates a new session and allows players to call the bot again;
- all changes are announced in the in-game match chat on the platform.
Consequences of Additional Start or Restart:
- the administration may shorten the waiting time before the next match start (announced in the match chat);
- in case of a restart, the administration may delete data from all previously launched submatches so that results are counted only from the restarted lobby;
- points are automatically counted strictly based on the first played game within a specific match;
- if a player enters the main lobby and then participates in an additional start, only the results of the first game count; the additional start results are ignored;
- in case of a restart (with deletion of previous data), results are counted based on replays from the restarted lobby.
It is mandatory to monitor the match chat on the platform to avoid missing information about additional starts or restarts, as missing these announcements may result in missing participation in the correct lobby.
